Councillor Hannah Hanratty
I am extremely honoured to follow in the footsteps of both my parents, and fellow Councillors Peter and Shirley Quinn. I was co-opted as a member of Shildon Town Council in 2019 and I am delighted to have been elected to serve our wonderful town for a further 4 years. I am proud to have been chosen to represent our town as Mayor with my husband Nathan as my consort.
I was born and raised in Shildon, on the Jubilee estate, and I am now raising my little boy, Harry, just metres from where I called home as a child. Shildon is a town full of history, but what makes it even more special for me are the people who make up our community.
Alongside my role of Mayor, I also have a full time job working for Student Finance England, helping those who wish to pursue higher education ensure they have the financial support they need to enable them to study.
During my year in office, I aim to fundraise as much as I can in order to raise monies for my chosen cause. This year I would like to follow in the footsteps of my parents and previous mayor’s and raise funds for local organisations and community groups within the town. I feel it’s vital to ensure that we support local, and what better way to do it than to raise funds within the town to give back to the community.
I intend to hold various fundraising events throughout the year and I would be delighted to welcome the community along to support these events.
