Well known local man and Councillor, Peter Quinn was elected into the Chair at the Annual Town Council Meeting held on the 13th May 2019 for a second time.
Councillor Quinn stated that it is an honour to represent the town both locally and around the region, which he is looking forward to with his wife, Councillor Shirley Quinn, as his consort.
Councillor Quinn volunteers at Shildon Football Club on match days. Councillor Quinn is heavily involved with the Shildon Branch of the Royal British Legion and has been Parade Marshall for the town’s two Remembrance Day Parades for over 20 years. Councillor Quinn also supports several local coffee mornings and lunch clubs in and around the town and is always on hand to offer guidance and action any issues.
Originally from Sunderland and serving in the Army, Councillor Quinn settled in Shildon 26years ago, married, raised a daughter Hannah and has welcomed his son in law Nathan into the family. Completing the family is grandson Harry who was born last month.
During his Year of Office, Councillor Peter Quinn has decided that his Mayors charity/causes this year will be shared between local organisations and funding to set up a 24 hour community defibrillator in the town. He hopes to hold a number of events throughout the year and welcomes everyone to attend and help raise money as well as supporting local businesses.
